Trio of quality accreditations help Alloy Wire International secure £150,000 of sales

Alloy Wire International has recently secured £150,000 of contracts to supply customers in the aerospace and oil & gas sectors. This latest success is due, in part, to a trio of recent successful quality accreditations that are highly sought after across a number of different industries.

Being re-approved to the Aerospace & Defence standard AS9100 (revision D) and the ISO 14001 Environmental standard, Alloy Wire are maintaining the exceptional quality of control that is a requirement for supplying into aerospace and oil & gas applications. In addition, it has become one of the first manufacturers in the UK to achieve ISO 45001, the new international standard that covers all aspects of health and safety.

Achieving this shows Alloy Wire’s level of commitment to maintaining a world class, safe working environment.

“A real team effort”

“It has been a very busy few months on the quality front, with all of the team working hard to make sure we passed audits so that we can keep supplying the aerospace sector and meet our commitment to manufacturing with as little impact on the environment as possible,” commented Kevin Guest, Quality Executive at Alloy Wire International.

“Quality and our ability to manufacture to exacting specifications are two of our biggest selling points and, in the last four weeks alone, we have secured work with new clients that have been impressed with our AS9100 and ISO 14001 credentials. Without these awards in place, we wouldn’t even get on the list to quote for the order.”

He continued: “The ISO 45001 accreditation is the upgrade to OHSAS 18001 and required a real team effort, with everyone from the Directors to shipping getting involved in the process and ensuring we had the right systems in place.

“Our Assessor – SGS – was very impressed and I’m led to believe we’re one of the first companies in the UK to achieve this standard – it’s all about manufacturing quality and delivering reliability.”

New technical specialist appointed

AWI’s quality team has been further strengthened this month with the appointment of a new technical specialist that will work in testing and final inspection.

Gary Whitehouse will work with existing specialists to underpin the company’s approach to quality and to also give it additional resource when dealing with customer enquiries that are now a lot more technically demanding.
